Roxy The Bloodhound Tries To Sniff Out Secret TPP Text

Dave Johnson

Almost a month ago, the United States and 11 other countries announced final agreement on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). But the final text of TPP is still secret. We still don’t get to know what was agreed to.

Today, members of Congress brought out a new weapon in their search for the text of the secret TPP: “Secret TPP Text Tracking Bloodhound ‘Roxy’.” They are using Roxy to make the point that even members of Congress can’t sniff out the final text of TPP.

The press conference was live-tweeted at the new Twitter account @TPPsearchhound with the hashtag #SniffOutTPP. (You can help spread the word by retweeting some of the tweets.)

So the big question is, why is TPP still secret?

The excuse for secrecy before TPP was completed was that they have to keep it secret or countries won’t make their “best offers.” (Of course, they even kept the parts that were already agreed on secret, too.) Now there is NO excuse, except they do not want to give the public time to read and analyze it, and organize opposition if opposition is warranted.

If you haven’t already, please sign this petition to release the TPP text.
