Republicans are exercising the one power that the American People have not yet been able to take away from them: the power to destroy. Conservatives are "giddy" over shutting down the government. This is who they are.
"We’re very excited," said Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.). "It’s exactly what we wanted, and we got it."
If you spend some time at the media outlets of the "true conservatives" you will realize that they are "giddy" celebrating the shutdown, and "ideally" want to keep the government shut down "through the 2014 elections" because people in government are "terrified that you might discover you don't need them."
Seriously, this is the stuff they are saying to each other. This shutdown could go on a long time. This is who they are.
The Wall Street Journal has the story. "We're pretty much out of options at this point,'' said Rep. Devin Nunes (R., Calif.), criticizing the faction of the party most unwilling to compromise. "They're all giddy about it. ..."
Fight ... Ideally Through 2014
At Forbes, John Tammy writes, "The Republicans Must Aggressively Seek Credit For The Federal Government Shutdown":
The Republican Party didn’t blink, and as a result non-essential aspects of the federal government are soon to be shut down. Republican politicians and members of the Party should cheer ...
The Republican Party now has a brand that says it’s willing to stand athwart the obnoxious growth of Leviathan. Its decision to allow a shutdown of the federal government, and to ideally allow it to remain shut through the 2014 elections absent substantial concessions from the Democrats, is both good politics and economics.
American Thinker: "House GOP should prepare for a long siege":
Republicans have called for a House-Senate conference to discuss a compromise – an unrealistic proposal given that the right flank of the GOP will only vote for delay or defunding Obamacare and Senate Democrats will never agree to either idea. So it appears that stalemate will rule for the foreseeable future.
Grover Norquist wrote at The Huffington Post, "It is unlikely the Republicans would sacrifice their most significant legislative victory at the altar of more spending."
Don't Need Government
Many conservatives are hoping the shutdown will prove to Americans that they don't need government at all. For example, Erick Erickson at RedState:
The fight must be to either now keep government shut down till the Democrats blink or drive from office Republicans who vote to fund Obamacare.
In the meantime, life will go on. Americans will see they really can get along without Washington’s constant, daily interference in their lives.
American Thinker: "...the public is learning that most of the federal government employees are not essential, and that we can get along fine with a smaller government."
Along the same lines, Bob Owens, formerly of Confederate Yankee, now of Bearing Arms, tweeted that: "There is no government #shutdown. There are, however, a lot of people in govt terrified that you might discover you don't need them."

Shutdown Good For The Country
Many conservatives think the shutdown is good for the country because government is bad. A shutdown means there won't be any government regulations in the way of things the billionaires and giant corporations want to do. Daily Caller writes of "The damage often done by on-duty non-essential personnel":
What do all of these 800,000 people do when they are un-furloughed and fully funded? When not making rap videos, or Star Trek videos, or Gilligan’s Island videos – they make more and more regulations. Idle bureaucrat hands are the devil’s playground. Under President Obama, they have been Disneyland.
Human Events headlines an article "Sometimes You Have to Let Government Go," "... which would certainly free up the private sector to create a lot of additional coin. And allow for the Feds to take a little less of it."
Wizbang proclaims: "Worried about a government shutdown? Don’t be. It won’t affect you much."

Tea Party Nation: RINO REPUBLICANS BREAKING RANK
The Blaze blares, "THE 12 HOUSE REPUBLICANS WHO ARE READY TO GIVE UP OBAMACARE FIGHT IN ORDER TO END GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN." (Read the comments: "Alright people get on twitter and tell each one DO NOT CAVE TO DEM BULLY’S ! YOUR JOB DEPENDS ON IT ! We must put the pressure on them SPEAK UP AMERICAN PATRIOTS !!")
While some Republican members of the U.S. House are standing firm in the spending negotiations (or lack thereof) with Democrats, there are reportedly at least 12 GOP House members who are ready to fully fund Obamacare to end the partial government shutdown.
In order for Senate Democrats to get their way and get a “clean” continuing resolution passed by the House, only five other Republicans would have to defect, or a total of 17. A clean CR would leave Obamacare in tact and fund the rest of the government in full.

Have you ever wondered what is going through the head of a suicide bomber at the moment he or she hits the trigger button? Just spend some time reading conservative blogs and media as they encourage each other to blow up the government. Let's hope this fever subsides before the debt ceiling is reached.
