Protesters say 'Time Is Up for Wells Fargo's Shady Dealings'. Common Dreams: "At the bank's annual gathering in Des Moines, a coalition of progressive community organizations demanded divestment from fossil fuels, private prisons, and the gun industry. Hundreds of progressive advocates gathered at Wells Fargo's annual shareholders meeting in Des Moines, Iowa on Tuesday to demand that the big bank clean up its investments and business practices.'Time is up for Wells Fargo's shady dealings,' declared People's Action director George Goehl. "They have proven that they can't do business without cheating, racism, and investing in violence.'"
Dems Post Gains In Special Elections
Republicans lost support in every special election since Trump became president. NYT: "Democratic energy has been on vivid display in a series of special elections since President Trump’s inauguration, including in strongly conservative areas where Republicans usually win elections easily, like Arizona’s Eighth District. In a special House election on Tuesday, Debbie Lesko, a Republican, won the conservative Arizona district, but was ahead by less than six points as of 12:00 a.m. Eastern with most of the votes counted. That is a narrow win compared to the victory margin of Trent Franks, who beat his opponent by 37 points in 2016, but resigned amid scandal. In 2016, President Trump won the district in a landslide, but on Tuesday, Republican support dropped in nearly all precincts. While Republican candidates like Ms. Lesko have mostly prevailed in the recent special elections, they have been winning by sharply reduced margins. Congressional seats that Republicans defended easily in 2016 — in Georgia, South Carolina and elsewhere — have barely stayed in Republican hands."

In These Times: "Hugh Espey, executive director of Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement (CCI), is wearing gray sweats and a hoodie and has the sleeves-rolled-up mix of grit and weariness of a man who’s been doing social justice work in Iowa since the 1970s. He pounds the table as he talks about how the Democrats have talked a great game for decades, but done little... This election cycle, Espey thinks things will be different. 'That right there,' he says, jabbing a finger toward a photograph in a photocopied article on the wall of CCI’s offices. 'That right there is a movement candidate.' The candidate is Cathy Glasson, an intensive care nurse and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) local president who’s running for the Democratic nomination for governor."
Judge Orders Reopening Of DACA
Judge orders reopening of DACA, after 90-day delay. CNN: "Another federal judge has overruled the Trump administration's efforts to end a popular immigration program -- this time saying the government has to accept new applications. The ruling on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, however, won't take immediate effect, with the judge delaying the ruling for 90 days to allow the administration to make its case in a new memo justifying the end of the program. Similar to the other rulings, Judge John Bates concluded that the wind-down of DACA was 'arbitrary and capricious' because the Department of Homeland Security failed to 'adequately explain its conclusion that the program was unlawful.' The judge also accused the government of providing "meager legal reasoning" to support its decision.' A George W. Bush appointee to the US District Court for the District of Columbia, Bates delayed the implementation of his ruling 'to allow the agency an opportunity to better explain its rescission.'"
