Clinton Turns Up Volume Against Trump

Clinton scorches Trump on foreign policy. NYT: "Speaking in a steady, modulated tone but lobbing some of the most fiery lines of her presidential campaign, Mrs. Clinton painted Mr. Trump as a reckless, childish and uninformed amateur who was playing at the game of global statecraft."

Trump returns fire. W. Post: "Trump called Clinton's speech 'pathetic,' 'sad to watch' and 'phony.' He did not dive into the details of what she said."

Sanders doesn't cede foreign policy to Clinton. The Hill quotes: "I agree with Secretary Clinton that Donald Trump's foreign policy ideas are incredibly reckless and irresponsible. But when it comes to foreign policy, we cannot forget that Secretary Clinton voted for the war in Iraq, the worst foreign policy blunder in modern American history, and that she has been a proponent of regime change, as in Libya, without thinking through the consequences.”

Sanders holds presser on climate change. W. Post quotes: "I did not, and you did not hear me, compare Secretary Clinton to Donald Trump. Donald Trump is a climate change denier. He is rejecting science, [though] I do urge Secretary Clinton to be bolder. I want her to change her views on the very important issue of fracking."

Trump Racist

Trump launches racist attack on Trump U. judge. W. Post: "While Trump has assailed the judge before with racially imbued language, his comments marked the first time he explicitly said the judge's ethnicity should have disqualified him for presiding over the cases ... Trump said that U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel had a conflict in the cases because the judge is 'of Mexican heritage ... I’m building a wall. It’s an inherent conflict of interest.'

Latino Republicans conflicted. W. Post: "...amid fresh attacks by Trump on Hispanic figures, there is little evidence that such a change is coming — leading some to abandon the presidential race or the 2016 elections altogether. Just this week, the Hispanic media spokeswoman at the Republican National Committee left her job for a super PAC because she could no longer stomach defending Trump."

Speaker Paul Ryan endorses Trump. NYT: "...Ryan saved his endorsement for a written column ... there were no plans announced for any joint appearances. Mr. Ryan is expected to focus mainly on campaigning for House candidates in the late summer and fall."
