NYT: "Mr. Sanders has acknowledged that his views on social issues, especially on same-sex marriage, are at odds with most of the Liberty students, but he says he hopes to find common ground with them 'about the grotesque level of income and wealth inequality in our country, about the collapse of the middle class, about the high level of childhood poverty, about climate change and other issues.'"

Trump slams CEO salaries. W. Post: "'It's a shame, and it's disgraceful,' he told John Dickerson of CBS's 'Face the Nation.' '… And you see these guys making enormous amounts of money, and it's a total and complete joke.' ... [But] Trump said he's not sure how to lower pay for CEOs..."

Scott Walker proposes to effectively kill all unions. Bloomberg: "At an event in Las Vegas late Monday, [the] two-term governor will propose eliminating unions for federal government employees, making all workplaces right-to-work unless individual states vote otherwise, and eliminating National Labor Relations Board that oversees labor practices."

Biden may wait until November. Bloomberg: " It would mean skipping the first Democratic debate on Oct. 13 in Nevada ... [But it would] let Biden wait until after Clinton's Oct. 22 testimony to the House Select Committee on Benghazi, which might conceivably exacerbate her current maladies."

House Republicans offer Planned Parenthood votes to quell conservative revolt. NYT: "Republican leaders are hoping that the separate votes defuse the situation and clear the way for a spending measure that keeps the government open through the end of 2015."

Sen. Mitch McConnell blames SNAP and Social Security for weak economy, in Politico interview: "Asked about the improving economy, McConnell scoffed: Business leaders tell him they have 'a hard time finding people to do the work because they’re doing too good with food stamps, Social Security and all the rest.'"

Transportation gives Congress a reprieve on Highway Trust Fund. The Hill: "The Transportation Department said this week that highway funding could last well into 2016, potentially giving Congress an extra half of a year to strike the long-term infrastructure deal that has long eluded Washington."

WH announces plan to help families access student financial aid. Reuters: "Among the measures Obama will announce in Des Moines, Iowa, on Monday will be allowing aspiring college students and their families to apply earlier under the Free Application for Federal Student Aid ... Students also will be able to electronically retrieve tax information filed for a previous year rather than waiting until tax season to finish their applications."
