Campaign for America’s Future, the strategy center for the progressive movement, announced in September that it has combined its operations with People’s Action.
This partnership connects the nation’s largest and most effective network of community organizations, now in 30 states, with CAF's national policy and communications shop. The result: A powerful new force in national politics.
People’s Action and People’s Action Institute were founded in 2016 to ignite a movement of millions that captures the rising demand for change in our society. Four powerful national organizations came together to form People's Action and People's Action Institute: Alliance for a Just Society, National People’s Action, USAction Education Fund and Institute for America's Future (People’s Action Institute, a 501(c)(3) organization); and Community Organizations in Action, National People’s Action Campaign, USAction and Campaign for America's Future (People’s Action, a 501(c)(4) organization).
Campaign for America's Future partnered with People's Action for the Populism 2015 conference, which helped sharpen the grassroots energy that fueled the presidential candidacy of Sen. Bernie Sanders and presented a powerful counterpoint to the alt-right populism at the center of the Donald Trump presidential campaign. People's Action has also been at the forefront of fights for universal health insurance and against predatory payday loans, and for legislation like the Community Reinvestment Act and the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
CAF's founders and co-directors, Robert Borosage and Roger Hickey, serve as advisers to People's Action.
