Miles's Bio

Miles Mogulescu is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post and writes, among other things, about health care, political campaigns, constitutional rights, and foreign policy. Over the past several months, he has written a multipart series under the general title, “Why Not Single Payer?”. He has been a lifelong progressive activist since the age of 12 when his father helped raise substantial sums of money for Dr. Martin Luther King, who was a guest in his home several times. He will never forget the impression which that extraordinary man made on him, which helped lead to a lifelong commitment to social justice. He co-produced and co-directed "Union Maids", a film about 3 women union organizers in Chicago in the 1930s and '40s, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Feature Documentary. At the time of the Gulf War, he co-produced a super-star music video with new lyrics to "Give Peace a Chance" written by Lenny Kravitz and John Lennon's son, Sean. His day job is as an entertainment attorney and he is a former Senior Vice-President at MGM before it was sold to Sony. In his professional capacity, he recently negotiated the distribution arrangements for the film "Bobby" about the assassination of Bobby Kennedy, and negotiated the talent deals for the upcoming film “Defiance” directed by Ed Zwick (“Blood Diamond”, “The Last Samurai”) about 3,000 Jews who escaped the ghetto, rather than being led off to the camps, and hid out in the forests of Belarus fighting the Nazis.
