MLK tidbits

Later this afternoon, we'll probably have a post up from The Big Con's newest weekly guest blogger (introducing....Cliff Schechter!!!" Later tonight, I'll have a post up on how the right is using the Community Reinvestment Act—one of the great progressive policy triumphs of our generation—to lie about the true reasons for the subprime crisis, a subject very much in the spirit of King's social democratic message. I fully endorse what Spencer Ackerman writes here about David Brooks and all such right-wing punks attempting to march behind Martin Luther King's banner.

Indeed, I thrashed about at great length on that subject here.

Or save your time a just note what Spencer says. It's very simple: "Had King not been martyred, the right would treat him like it treats Jesse Jackson -- as nothing more than a 'hustler' or a "huckster.'"
