IS JOHN McCAIN THE REAL "MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE?"
China's People's Daily Monday, the state run paper of record for China's Communist Party, has apparently decide they don't like the cut of Barack Obama's jib--they'd rather set sail with the Sloop John B, er... Republican John McCain.
The article, authored by the senior editor of the Chinese paper, questioned Mr. Obama's ability to effect change on everything from the Iraq war to the economy, social security, and education. The author nonsensically asserted, "Obama has not broken through white America's feeling of superiority, on the contrary, his emergence has reinforced the feeling." Hello??? Maybe I lost something in translation there, but when the paper went on to evoke the scary red telephone at 3 am., and opined, "if it's McCain, they will be at ease," I really started wondering about Mr. McCain's experiences in Vietnam. Is there something we don't know?
Oh, and that red telephone.... will it be made in China? Maybe China wants to see yet another Republican in power in the US, to make sure nobody raises annoying issues as to why our phones, red or otherwise, and pretty much everything we buy is being made in China.
And if we take China's People's Daily Monday's advice and elect John McCain? It will be the worst trip we've ever been on.
