Franken has spent his life as a sort of intellectual terrorist, a rebel in open war with the mores and power structures of America.

The stupid-beyond-stupid quotient comes not merely in the carelessness of the language, but in the lameness of the attempted argument: is not clowning around at the expense of authority figures, after all, also an American more? Michael Scherer's America: no rebels need apply.
