Bob Ney: Gambling Man

July 2005

neyradio_actionsidebar.jpg Our radio ad campaign against Rep. Bob Ney highlighted his corruption to tens of thousands of his own constituents. The ad ran hundreds of times from July 7-12 across Ney's sprawling rural Ohio district. Our provocative radio ad tells the story of Ney's shady deals and paints the portrait of a politician who knows how to play the game in Washington and stack the deck for his lobbyist friends.

Our print ad—viewed by tens of thousands of Rep. Ney's own constituents—ran in newspapers in the two largest cities in Rep. Ney's district on Thursday, June 16. It made the clear case that Bob Ney puts the interests of Washington lobbyists ahead of the people of Ohio.

Our ad campaign against Rep. Bob Ney received press across Ohio and the nation. National media outlets, including the Washington Post, Washington Times, MSNBC, and The American Prospect—and blogs like MyDD.com and TalkingPointsMemo.com—drew national attention to the shady business deals of Bob Ney, the "everyman" of Congressional corruption. In addition, our campaign was widely covered by Ohio media, like the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Columbus Dispatch and newspapers in Ney's district like the Chillicothe Gazette and the Zanesville Times-Recorder.
