The other day we did an interview on the Wall Street Journal's syndicated radio program, the Daily Wrap, about the election's effect on the upcoming deficit-deal talks. We emphasized the mandate which voters gave to the President and to Senate Democrats. It's a mandate to resist austerity cuts -- or any cuts to Medicare and Social Security benefits -- and to emphasize jobs and growth instead.
